Based on a simple play on words,the concept of Undertoad was created so that I could be at the ocean's edge even when I wasn't there.

Every summer, our family would pack the old gas guzzler and head two hours South to Ocean Isle Beach, NC for a week of vacation.  As soon as the smell of sand and salt mixed with the pound of the tide, and a walk to the pier hit the air coming in from outside the car window, I never wanted to leave. Now I don't have to.

When my two brothers and I were younger, we were told of the Undertoad that hung out in the surf who would grab at our toes if we went out too far, amazingly enough it worked.  It also stuck with me throughout the years to the extent that I drew a shirt and made about 20 or so to preserve the name in my mind.  As soon as some friends caught wind, they wanted one. 19 requests later I was out of shirts, with only one problem, more requests. Seeing this as a way to have fun, I designed a new logo with the face of Buford T. Undertoad, the name my brothers and I gave to the guardian "toad" that kept us close to the ocean front those many summers growing up.
